Farrukh Akram, P.Eng., specializes in digitally disruptive technologies in subsurface, development and production engineering workflows and has over 15 years of experience working in the upstream oil and gas, and technology industries. He is currently with Amazon Web Services (AWS), responsible for enabling digital innovation for the oil and gas industry in Canada. He joins AWS from IBM, and Accenture, where he was the business lead for oilfield analytics, fueling his passion for enabling digital oilfields using Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Data Analytics. He has spent majority of his career with Schlumberger, where he held multiple regional and global roles including business development and technology portfolio management. He has authored many papers in the field of reservoir management, field development and well designs. He is a published author with SPE, American Oil & Gas Reporter, Digital Energy Magazine and Oilfield Review. He has a granted patent on completion design and 2 pending patents on steam breakthrough detection for SAGD wells and real-time engineering analytics. He holds a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Petroleum Engineering.
