Dipak Patki holds a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Western Ontario, with over 28 years of experience in the industry. He has worked in Petrochemicals, Fertilizers, Refineries, Oil Sands and Unconventional business. During his international work experience in India, Indonesia, China, USA & Canada he has worked as an Instrument Lead, Maintenance Manager, Commissioning & Start up lead, among other positions. Dipak joined Shell Canada in 2005 and led Shell’s Upstream Oil Sands business. Since then, in addition to various Oil Sands debottlenecking projects, he has successfully completed Quest CO2 Capture Project and the Scotford Refinery Debottlenecking project. Currently, he is leading Shell’s Unconventional business in Canada, U.S. and Argentina. In addition to his project work, he supports Shell’s digitalization and low Carbon initiatives by implementing cutting edge technologies. Currently he is representing Shell at the Natural Gas Innovation forum (NGIF) for the development of game changer technologies. Dipak has successfully implemented Honeywell (TDC 3000 & Experion), Foxboro IA and Emerson DCS Systems installations. He also worked on Triconex and Honeywell Safety Manager for implementing Safety functions. Dipak used to hold Shell’s SIFPro (SIL Assessment Software) certification and he used to facilitate SIL reviews on various projects within Shell and help implement the Safety functions to meet Shell’s internal & IEC 61511’s requirements. Dipak is married for last 20+ years and has two sons. He enjoys playing badminton and community socialization. During his free time, he mentors young engineers and volunteers at APEGA events.
